Hip-Hop Terminology
Throughout this site, I will be using some terms that may be unfamiliar to those who have not been exposed to hip-hop culture. Here is a brief rundown of those terms
Bars (noun)
The lyrics to a rap song. In its singular form, a "bar" refers to one measure of a verse. The plural form is synonymous with "verse," "sixteen," and "rhymes."

Cypher (noun)
A group of rappers coming together to spit their bars for each other.

Freestyle (verb/noun)
The act of rhyming off the top of your head (verb) or verses spit while one is freestyling (noun). This is an ability of a highly skilled emcee and is by no means something that one can simply pick up overnight.

The act of reciting bars. One can "spit a sixteen" or "spit bars."

The instrumental for a song.

Wack (Also spelled "whack") (adjective)
Terrible. Can be used to describe a rapper, bars, or an instrumental.
